Norval C. Hood  87 (June 2, 1923 - October 18, 2010) was the loving husband of Vertrees Hood (nee Barlbort) for 65 years; son of the late Norval C. Hood, Sr. and Zola (nee Minor); dear father of Gary (Vickie ) Hood, Nancy (Tom) Sparr, Robyn Hood; dear grandfather of Gariet Hood, Timothy Hood, Matthew Murphy, Rebecca Hood and Katie Hood; dearest great-grandfather of Taylor Hood, Aiden Hood, Macy Murphy, Avery Murphy and Natalie Hood; and loving brother of Welton (Carroll) Hood. Norval was born in Sedalia, Pettis County, MO.  He died peacefully October 18, 2010 at the Missouri Veteran's Home with family around him. He was a farmer, sailor, volunteer fire fighter, builder, watchmaker, pilot, meat cutter and SAR member.  He was a WWII veteran.  Norval was a faithful Christian.  Norval joined the SAR on July 28, 1998.  He was a Charter Member of the Fernando de Leyba Chapter.  He and his wife lived in St. Louis, MO.  Visitation was held for Norval on June 2, 2010 from 2-9 p.m. at STYGAR MID-RIVERS Funeral Home, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Drive., St. Charles, MO 63304.  His funeral service was held on Friday, June 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 5180 Parker Road., Blackjack, MO 63033 with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment was at the Salem Cemetery. Memorial contributions were requested to be sent to the Salem Lutheran Church or the Sons of the American Revolution (Fernando de Leyba Chapter), or the Missouri Veteran's Home, 10600 Lewis and Clark Blvd., St. Louis MO 63136.
