Biography
John Cox was a young man when he signed an Oath of Allegiance in Henry County, VA, on 30 Aug 1777. He later enlisted in Brice Martin's militia company (Henry County, VA) where he achieved the rank of 2nd lieutenant. In March of 1781, John's company marched to the defense of Guilford Court House.

After the war, John settled in Warren County, KY, and was active in civic affairs there. He was appointed the first Tax Commissioner. He was also a captain in the Kentucky militia. John's will was dated 30 Jun 1832 and was proved in July, 1832. His burial place is unknown.
