Levi Ingersoll
Biography
Simon Ingersoll was a private in the French and Indian War and served on an expedition to Lake George in 1757. He was appointed 1st Lieutenant in June, 1776 and served in the 4th Greenwich County Infantry, Capt. Abraham Mead, First Battalion, Wadsworth Brigade, Col. Gold Selleck Silliman. He served in the Battle of Long Island, August 27, 1776 and the Battle of Wite Plains, October 28, 1776. He died of "camp fever" in 1777 and is buried in Stanwich, CT.
